Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival: Celebrating Philippine Independence
Celebrate Filipino independence at Pagdiriwang, the annual celebration of the arts and culture of the Philippines. The festival commemorates the end of Spanish rule in 1898 with pageantry, music, dance, food, children's activities, drill teams, rock bands, exhibits and martial arts. It also features contemporary Filipino literature, performance and thought. To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in 2009, the BIBAK Association will showcase the IGORROTE VILLAGE: Revisited, highlighting the true culture and history of the Philippine mountain tribes - Benguet, Ifugao, Bontoc, Apayao and Kalinga (BIBAK). Presented by the Filipino Cultural Heritage Society of Washington.
